They’re just as nervous as you are!
This week’s tip will help you feel more confident at your next networking event, job interview or TV hosting gig. It’s about taking people off the imaginary pedestal you’ve put them on.
Often, people get intimidated by others and mentally place them in a position of superiority just because of their credentials. Like automatically your boss, or the celebrity you’re interviewing, or the millionaire you’ve just met is somehow better than you. Here’s the deal: they’re not.
We’re all the same. We’ve all got fears, we’ve all got problems, we’ve all got stuff that we’d be embarrassed for other people to know. Rather than focus on them, focus on you, and specifically, your message. Your message has value. You have value. It’s not an ego thing, it’s a pride thing.
Be proud of who you are and proud of what you’re saying, and you’ll make a great impression. You’ll own the room and walk away feeling really proud of yourself. Plus, you’ll make a great connection, have a great on-camera segment and maybe even land that job!
